Reverse osmosis separation is a process that adopt reverse osmosis membrane to selectively permeate solvent and intercept ionic substance. The static pressure difference between the two sides of the membrane is used as a driving force to overcome the osmotic pressure of the solvent, so that the solvent passes through the reverse osmosis membrane to achieve objective liquid.
The reverse osmosis membrane has a dense surface skin structure with pore diameter of 0.1 nm - 1 nm, and the thickness is about 0.25 um, which plays a key role in desalination. next layer is a porous support layer with loose structure and pore diameter of 100 - 400 nm. There is also a transition layer with a pore size of about 20 um in between. The total thickness of the Reverse Osmosis membrane is around 100 um. The moisture content is about 60%.
Reverse osmosis membrane could separate various inorganic ions, colloidal substances and macromolecular solutes in water to produce pure water. The desalination rate of the membrane is greater than 99.3%.
